HOLY CRAP I WILL MAKE ANOTHER REVIEW? BLASPHEMEH! O=
Final Fantasy is a series that literally went downhill after IX (9).
What do I mean with that?
I: You take on the role of 4 nameless Heroes. You choose their classes/jobs. It's pretty damn awesome.
I: You're 4 young rebels (everyone got a set name, something from this game onward became tradition). Fairly good game, but not the best IMO.
III: You take on the role of four youths that... Literally does everything known to man. Pretty awesome.
IV: This is the first (and last) game that got 5 characters. You take on the role of a young Dark Knight called Cecil. He and his friends (he's got a few...) needs to save the world (and the MOON!). Far from the best, though.
V: Taking on the role of a young man called Butz (or Bartz), your life isn't gonna be the same the instance you rescue a young girl called Lenna.
VI: Known as the third in the US. You first take on the role of a young mysterious girl called Terra (JP name is "Tina"). She's got the ability to use magic(!) and needs to learn who the hell she is.
VII: Taking on the role of a mercenary named Cloud, your job is to aid AVALANCHE, a resistance group. My personal favorite Final Fantasy game, ever.
VIII: You're Squall, a young anti-social man that's a SeeD unit. You're, again, a mercenary and is heading around the world, saving it from various different things as well as taking on missions.
IX: Encounter Zidane, a cheery thief. His job is to kidnap the princess Garnet. However, in doing so, he just might have altered the fate for all of humanity... Last decent one.
X: Tidus is a Blitzball player (basically soccer underwater) that lost his father ten years ago. When heading to the Jecht memorial cup (his fathers name was Jecht), he gets pulled away by something called "Sin". What waits for him at the other end of Sin? Only time will tell...
XI: Haven't played, online game.
XII: The one we're making a review of.
You start out as some guy called Recs (I think?) who's a soldier and recently married.
He gets killed.
Yeah...
You then take on the S.O.B (Son Of A Bitch) Vaan. His usefulness is... Non-existant. He's a thief, which is right about his only strong point.
Getting money isn't happening. It's freaking impossible. Why? Because normally, enemies drops Gil (the money). Now? Unless you sell shit, you ain't getting even 1 Gil. Unless you kill humans. HOWEVER THEY VERY RARELY DROP GIL. Pain in the ass, I might add.
You constantly run around, praying that your Gambits will work out as you want. Which they normally don't, too.
Character list:
Vaan - S.O.B Main character. Recs was his big brother, apparently. Got an OH so cool outfit...
Balthier: A handsome man who's also a Sky Pirate.
Fran: A Viera (bunny girl) who's 50+. Solely added for fanservice. Looks as if she's like 20, too...
Basch: Sole badass. He's the captain that's accused off killing Vaan's brother.
Ashe: A bitch who was married to Recs. She's apparently a princess. She dresses like a bitch, though...
Penelo: Childhood friend of Vaan. 'Nuff said.
Those six characters, alone, is enough to tell how bad it is.
Also, in the previous ones (up to 9), you just pray your turn is gonna show up before the enemies and kill them. Gambits removes this purpose, by making your characters automatically do whatever you assigned to their Gambit. Example:
Ally: HP>50%: Cure
Enemy: Any: Attack
With those two Gambits (in that order), if any of your allies falls below 50% HP, the character with those Gambits will automatically heal that one, then resume killing whatever enemy that was left off.
I can go on for ages, but I don't feel like it. Maybe I will some other time? I dunno.
